Cecily Rodgers,M.A.,M.S.
Licensed Professional Counselor
"Counseling is a place to find hope and healing. Locating the right counselor is a essential part of that process no matter what areas of your life you want to improve. A caring, compassionate, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship provides a foundation upon which a client can openly and honestly examine their current difficulties and move towards a more rewarding and joyful life. Counseling is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and in your relationship with others. If you can change the way that you view yourself and the way that you experience the world and relationships, you change everything!"
Major Practice Areas:

Cecily Rodgers is a Licensed Professional Counselor. One of her favorite comments from a client is, "I didn't know I could learn so much about myself in one hour". Cecily is known by her clients and colleagues as a very compassionate and caring counselor. One of Cecily's colleagues sought her counsel stating, "I came to you because of the way that you carry yourself. You care more about your clients than I ever will". Cecily considers it a privilege to be able to help clients rise above difficult life circumstances. She is fascinated by human behavior and she is passionate about the field of Psychology, earning graduate degrees in both Experimental Psychology and Counseling Psychology. Her background in Experimental Psychology reinforces her belief in the need for empirical based methods in the counseling office. It also provides valuable insight into understanding the various ways that clients learn and process information, and the ways that clients use schemas (cognitive framework that helps us organize and interpret information) and scripts (expected behavior) and worldview to process information and form memories. An educational background in Experimental Psychology and Counseling Psychology naturally led Cecily to be interested in Attachment Theory which provides a means of looking at a client holistically, determining problematic patterns in relationships and the processing of emotions.

Cecily's counseling methods are empirical, creative, and thoughtful. She offers play therapy and sand tray therapy with children and adolescents. She often uses music with teens to learn more about them and enter their world. She also uses art, bibliotherapy, journaling, and poetry to help clients who are creatively minded. She even offers outdoor counseling in the beautiful private gardens behind the Keller office. Cecily typically draws from several different therapeutic approaches in therapy, primarily using cognitive behavioral therapy and insight based methods.

Using these methods, Cecily has worked with children, teens, and adults seeking help with anger, anxiety, chronic illness, depression, grief and loss, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse, sexual assault, stress, and other various difficulties. Cecily has worked in a group practice as well as a private psychiatric hospital. These settings provided a wide range of experience ranging from very low functioning clients who need help with daily living skills to very high functioning clients who seek counseling in order to reach their fullest potential. Regardless of the level of need, Cecily finds it an absolute joy and privilege to help clients work towards growth and change.

Cecily is doing the work that she loves. She has been married for over twenty years and she has two wonderful teenage children. She enjoys movies, working out, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. Both of Cecily's children were diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2014 and one of her children has a chronic illness and chronic pain. As a result, Cecily understands the implications of long term chronic illness and pain as well as the resulting emotional, financial, physical, relational and even spiritual implications. For this reason, Cecily also enjoys supporting those who are chronically ill, and those who love them.
