Jamie received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman's University in 2012. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and also works at Youth & Family Counseling where she sees clients for couples, family, individual, and play therapy. Jamie trained as an intern at Denton County Friends of the Family where she provided individual therapy to female victims of relationship violence and sexual abuse and co-facilitated a Violence Intervention and Prevention Program for male offenders of domestic violence. As an intern at University Behavioral Health, Jamie co-facilitated intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient group therapy. Jamie completed her Master’s thesis on the subject of Depression, Resilience, and Coping Strategies.
Jamie integrates many theories into her treatment with emphases on cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, and person-centered approaches. Jamie believes in the importance of increasing one’s awareness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to uncover the impact they have on one’s life satisfaction. She also focuses on clients’ strengths in order to facilitate the development of their full potential. Combining different approaches allows Jamie to utilize various therapeutic techniques based on the unique needs of individual clients.
